Our Story

My passion for farmers markets began 25 years ago at the Annual Waterfront Arts Festival in Gloucester, MA! On my honeymoon, young and in love, I stumbled upon some funky wind-chimes upcycled from forks and spoons! A spark was lit and my curiosity for all things handmade took hold. The search began for that piece of art, pottery or jewelry to add to my eclectic collection.

On a fortuitous trip to Vail, Co one rainy Sunday in July, I meandered the Vail Farmers Market & Art Show with two wonderful friends. With picturesque Vail Village as our backdrop, I was overwhelmed by the artists selling beautiful bowls, an assortment of crafts, jewelry in every medium, fun and functional pottery, amazing photography and art. Not to be outdone of course by the abundance of produce, artisan cheese, candy and crepe vendors sharing the square, or by the volume of shoppers who braved the weather, making sure not to miss their weekly finds.

Looking for my next career challenge and determined to stick with the following guideline: Work on something you love, with people you love and leave those you touch better for having met you. Farmers Market Finds was born. A website designed to promote the incredible handcrafted products featured at markets around the country. The goal -- bring the Gloucester Waterfront Arts Festival and the Vail Farmers Market and every other great farm or artisan market into your home year round. We created a place for you to shop local or even shop from a city that used to be your locale. Support your hometown, college town, or where you live today by supporting the local artist and farm communities, purchasing their products and sharing their work.

I have met so many interesting artisans in every imaginable craft, each with their own unique story and passion for their creation. Whether it be pottery, home decor, food, clothing or general crafts; the story behind the creation is always a story worth telling. You will find those stories, along with my own travel anecdotes, favorite moments shared with friends and family, and of course recommendations for great products and places to go, on the Farmers Market Finds blog. Use our website to connect directly with the crafter, view their product photos, videos and read reviews. Shop online or plan a trip to a new farmers market -- we have over 8,000 listed on the site! And if you happen to find something great, send it my way. I would love to share your Farmers Market Finds too!
